The purpose was to delegate many responsibilities of the ministry to leadership teams.  This resulted in more singles becoming involved.  Twenty-five singles were surveyed to determine their attitudes before and after the project.  Leadership teams were selected based on several factors, then trained.  A large single adult conference was the focal point of the project.  The results of the study showed little affect on the singles' attitudes. The thesis is that Christian women, given the proper tools and authority, can more effectively impact economically challenged women.  A thirty-two-hour workshop was developed, the first of three phases, to begin empowering and organizing participants into a self-managed team.  They were led through Ken Blanchard's three keys to empowerment -- sharing information, clarifying boundaries to create autonomy, and developing teams to replace the hierarchy. This study was a qualitative examination of the process by which deacons and elders developed into effective spiritual shepherds in their local churches. The study utilized focus groups comprised of four to five men each. The author gleaned the following three conclusions: 1. The calling to spiritual shepherding came soon after conversion. 2. The character necessary to spiritual shepherding formed through the influence of God-appointed individuals. 3. The curriculum design consisted of eight one-hour sessions.  The selected group of leaders was twelve in number and met on Sunday afternoons at the New Prospect Baptist Church.  The sessions addressed the following issues: conflict by definition, identifying the levels of conflict, understanding the dangers of conflict, conflict management styles, appropriate conflict management skills, and reconciliation.  The project goals included researching the field of conflict management, designing a workshop to equip selected leaders with conflict management skills, and equipping selected leaders with conflict management skills. The program gave the participants a broad view of church governmental systems, pastoral authority, and biblical leadership principles.  The program also assisted each participant in developing a leadership strategy for his or her ministry.  The program was taught in five sessions. This study was a qualitative study which gathered information through the use of interviews. The literature was divided regarding the matter of pastoral leadership. Some literature advocated strong leadership and other literature argued for shared leadership between the pastor and church officers.
