Specifically, it is believed emerging leaders who participate in a leadership course focusing on character development will express a higher degree of willingness to enter into leadership. Twenty-five adults participated in a course entitled, ' Character Formation in Spiritual Leaders', a study focused on God's role in shaping the character of His people. A framework for leadership development was established through an overview of biblical and church history and an examination of current leadership development trends. Intervention consisted of a series of sermons, 'Nehemiah on leadership,' and a small group study on 'The measure of a man' by Gene Getz. Analyses were performed to determine their effectiveness. Chapter 3 presented an investigation of transformational leadership process and the use of leadership in two different styles. Chapter 4 describes the ten week process of equipping a selected group of leaders of the Corinthian Baptist Church to initiate a transformational leadership ministry with specific emphasis on leadership. The project's design strategy targets three specific areas of learning and development: the cognitive, the affective, and the spiritual. Phase three involved the post-training interview and evaluation of participants and the project director. Documents on deacon selection and training criteria were produced.
