This project discusses some cultural issues underlying those debates and describes an experiment in seeking to revitalize Reformed worship through personal piety among church leaders within a particular congregation. Characteristics of culture and worship at the beginning of the twenty-first century are explored and contrasted with characteristics of Christian worship that intentionally seeks to embody an alternative culture. Nine pastors were surveyed and interviewed to discern their theological visions and leadership strategies in light of a theology which sees God's church sent on a mission. The research discloses that leadership factors include a passionate outreach oriented vision that is cast in a way which embeds the vision in the culture of the growing congregation. The thesis of this project is that the shared praxis approach can be a catalyst for congregational leaders to discern God's will. During an eight-week workshop based on the shared praxis approach, congregational leaders prayed, read scripture, meditated,and discussed what it meant to seek the kingdom of God in the hope of discerning God's will for the congregation's corporate mission and direction. Called EAGLE Forums, these monthly sessions would focus on personal and professional development in the areas of leadership, conflict management, and accountability. Participants in the training surveyed and contrasted current leadership styles in business and churches in order to lead their small groups to identify and improve their approach to pastoral leadership. Church conflict issues and the biblical response to conflict were investigated and addressed. The initial research and review was accomplished through interviews and pastoral as well as church input, and through biblical study and insight, the need for additional training was evident. As a result of this investigation, the conclusion was reached that the project leader would develop a six-month deacon leadership model. In summary, the goal of this project to assist prospective deacons in discovering their true ministerial calling was reached. This researcher conducted a project using collaborative means of leadership development training to grow the leaders into leadership roles and give them tools to duplicate that leadership method with others. Fourteen leaders took part in retreats, video presentations, lectures, and testing. The author limited the scope of the study in the groups to five key areas of spiritual growth and the groups met for one and a half hours, once a week for forty one weeks.  The author evaluated the groups at the mid-point and at the end of the group life. Evaluative tools employe were surveys and personal interviews. The project was conducted in three stages: the enlistment of potential leaders, the training of the leaders, and the enlistment of leaders and assignment of participants to specific Shepherd Groups.
