It involved teaching multi-level mentor training to a group of cell leaders and cell members. A test to measure identification with statements that reflected the qualities of a multi-level mentoring disciple-maker was given both pre- and post-course to measure any increase in identification, along with journaling. This included development of clearly defined guidelines of supervision and team roles.  The project discusses roots of teamwork in ministry found in the Bible as well as defining 'success' according to New Testament principles.  Team leaders are trained to follow Jesus' model of servant leadership and to become holistic administrators who must function effectively as managers, leaders, and stewards.  Tenets in Family Systems Theory are also used to train team leaders. The intent of this thesis is to explore the literature of one type of leadership  known as transformational leadership, by reviewing publications from both the secular and the Christian church cultures.  It becomes obvious that in order to address transformation, one must also address the changing of one's culture in making disciples for Jesus Christ.  The Bible is filled with transformational leaders. Various approaches were tried by the author. Use of the Living Life Bible Study class proved most effective. Participants became active models for the whole congregation. The most noticeable improvement was in trainees acting as lay pastors, taking on responsibilities formerly completed by the author. Data was gathered and the model was developed through training, pre-testing and post-testing, interviews, and theological reflection and evaluation with peers and context associates. The findings of this project reflected a change in the treatment group's views on leadership and a realization that 'ministry' and 'vision in ministry' should be shared among all believers. The report examines the biblical, theological, and historical foundations of leadership with special attention given to the motifs of power, authority, and stewardship.  As a result of the research, the SERVES model of leadership was developed. This thesis examines the biblical validity of mentoring and andragogy, and assesses the effect of a self-study, andragogical mentoring course, written by the researcher, on the mentoring commitment and competency of Australian Baptist church leaders. Forty leaders, including seventeen pastors, completed the course and were tested both before and after the course for their mentoring ability (commitment, knowledge and skills). The purpose of this study is to identify and describe the characteristics and processes of Nominations and Personnel Committees in United Methodist Churches of the Alabama-West Florida Annual Conference selected for their perceived strength in mobilizing laity participation and leadership.  The study addresses the Nominations process in two groups of churches.  The study sought to discover if significant differences existed between the Nominations process in churches that were recognized as having active lay participation and leadership and other churches of the Annual Conference. A further question the study sought to answer was that of the correlation between well-organized Nominations and Personnel committees and active lay leadership and participation. Additionally, the study sought to identify other factors that might influence the level of lay participation and leadership in those churches that were perceived as showing strength in that area of church life.  Data for the study was gathered by means of a researcher developed, self-administered survey mailed to the local pastors of the churches in both study groups.  The survey instrument, Nominations and Personnel Committee (NomCom) Characteristics Survey, consisted of an eight page, ninety-five question inventory which addressed organizational and relational aspects of the nomination process within the local church.  The questions were predominately closed-ended. The study revealed real differences existing between the two subject groups, one of which exhibited a stronger sense of purpose in ministry, and more careful attention to the procedural elements of their work within the Nominations and Personnel committee.
