Yet the church has within its tradition the cycle of the liturgical year, a resource of immeasurable power in assisting persons of faith build, shape and strengthen their identity as disciples of Jesus Christ. Meaningful, well thought-out liturgical events are extremely effective in developing Christian identity, an identity that can prevail against the other words and other stories that would coopt and destroy the unique identity of the church. A team of laity and clergy studied worship together.  They also surveyed their congregation regarding religious roots, beliefs and expectations about worship.  The team encouraged congregational participation in and response to liturgical renewal. They wrote collects and examined, tested and edited liturgies of the United Church of Christ and other Reformed communions. The act of ministry and appendices include worship services and sermons based on Cycle A of the lectionary from Lent through Ascension.
