The method employed to determine the effective use of the biblical basis for tissue techniques was a pastoral ministry with four separate married couples counseled in eight fifty-minute sessions of pastoral therapy. The material for this project comes from a combination of personal experience, formal and informal involvement with other infertile couples, and extensive library research. Part one examines marriage as covenant in 'Gaudium et Spes', subsequent theological development, and the spirituality of marriage by the Whiteheads.
