Merge sought to help emerging adults grow in faith, utilizing conversation, silence, reflection, and creative arts.  Participants took part in nine weekly group sessions and a culminating retreat, during which they helped in planning for the future of Merge as a program of the religious life office at Ohio Northern.  Growth was measured utilizing the Faith Maturity Scale. The extension of adolescence has received much attention, and there are indicators delayed development of adolescents significantly affects society in a number of ways: families, economies, educational institutions, and local churches. Data was collected through surveys and interviews with emerging adults. The project was organized around the three major tasks of adulthood: establishing autonomy, developing community, discovering vocation. This determination will be made by interviewing and recording their responses to questions that are both open-ended and close-ended. Following this interview process, the author also interviewed a smaller sample from other local churches. A comparison of the responses helped the author determine how much of the New Covenant theology has been grasped and its effect on people's spiritual maturation. The results were encouraging and varied greatly between the two sample groups. Church leaders need to understand and seek effectiveness in this nurture process. The author identifies faith outcomes to expect at various stages, resulting from research into childhood development theories. He then reports on a strategic planning session aimed at identifying initiatives that would enable Damascus Community Church to become more effective in realizing those outcomes through their children's ministries.
