The resource described bioethical mediation as a new form of healthcare ministry that helps to resolve misunderstandings, issues, and conflicts among and between healthcare professionals, patients, and family members. The resource was evaluated by ten experts. The spiritual, emotional, and practical needs of transplant patients and their families are examined.  Next the biblical, ethical, and theological issues related to organ transplantation are examined.  Resources which help pastors find help and guidance are discussed. A variety of methods for approaching case consultations have been primarily physician-focused, leaving the role of the clinical ethicist from the perspective of the family overlooked.  Indicating a gap in the process of end-of-life decision making, family members identified seven categories about their experience of decision making. The resulting process is more inclusive of the values and relationships entering into a medical decision where ethical choices are involved. One hundred health care workers were presented with twenty-two cases requiring both an action decision and a value justification for the action.  This test was given pre and post a six-week course in perinatal management. The purpose of this study is to show that a consistent and systematic way to approach bioethical dilemmas has evolved in the last quarter century.  The study approaches the discussion of limiting medical treatment from medical, legal, and theological perspectives. Specifically, bioethical dilemmas involving persons with developmental disabilities residing in a state residential facility in California are explored.  The project portion of the study includes a handbook for use with families in considering options regarding limiting medical treatment.
