would transformationally effectuate a stronger ability in GenXers and Millennials at Life Fellowship church to hear God's voice. Using a quantitative approach, data was accumulated after twelve weeks of instruction and application of the Bible reading method with the goal of hearing God. To this end, a variety of prayer styles were compared. Years of personal experience were drawn on to formulate a series of teaching sessions presented at a small local church. The author's research revealed the biblical basis for prayer as the cornerstone of Christian discipline. It was also shown historically how a style of approach to prayer can set the tone for a whole movement within the church. Examples from the historical Korean prayer movement were drawn on frequently. The author examined and practiced the various prayer styles with her church members and defined both vocal and meditative prayer as major categories, each containing many distinct practices. How can communities of faith offer sanctuary to those yearning for it? Learning from monastic communities that help connect individual lives with the Divine by keeping the seven hours, and mingling work and prayer, this project explored the possibility that a modern, accessible retreat could help participants reconnect body, mind, and spirit. In a one-day retreat in an Anglican Cathedral setting, 42 participants, ranging in age from 7 to 86, loosely kept the seven hours and engaged in creative activities: self-directed art projects, needlework, labyrinth walking, illuminating letters, baking, gardening and making rosaries. Participants rated their levels of peacefulness upon arrival and departure, and explored the areas where they had experienced stress during the day, and what they felt led them to a deeper peace. Contained encounters with stress helped participants move to deeper levels of internal peacefulness, as did support and feedback provided through the structure and experience of the event. The objective was to develop a deeper personal relationship with God and one another by becoming more attentive to God. The team was guided through one action research cycle using the spiritual practices of silence and solitude, reflection and journaling, prayer and Lectio Divina for twenty weeks. Data was gathered through written narratives and group interviews and analyzed by qualitative methods. The research indicated that through intentional fostering of individual intimacy with God, an ardent team emerged to corporately provide more discerning spiritual leadership. The techniques which were taught were drawn from various monastic traditions and Christian mystics from throughout the ages.  They were presented over the course of eight weeks of study.  In addition to learning various styles of contemplative prayer the participants were asked to employ them for at least 15 minutes a day, five days a week, for each of the eight weeks. The report included research, meditation practice sessions, a preparatory sermon, post/pre questionnaires and an evaluation of the entire process.  The theological dialogue partners included Dale Andrews and Howard Thurman. The results  were a better understanding of the congregation's approach to worship and their desired outcome of worship.
