The sessions were held during eight weeks with two hours per session consisting of lectures, Power Point presentations, experiential exercises, and journaling. The six participants were assessed through pre- and post-test consisting of a Likert scale instrument as well as open-ended questions.  The transformation process in the six participants' was assessed following the eight-week sessions. The context for this project was at Martin Luther King Junior Senior High School, Detroit, Michigan. The focus was on grade point averages, scholastics, attendance, conduct, and faith enrichment. The results indicated a decline in the male students GPA, while scholastics, attendance, conduct, and faith enrichment made a slight increase. The study took a curriculum design approach to develop an educational framework for life-based mentoring. Developing this model involved a four-step process. First, the author examined a few key biblical mentoring narratives to find patterns and principles related to life-based mentoring. Second, he explored how the study of literature could inform the development of this model. Third, he established a strategic framework and developed a curriculum for this model. Ararat Baptist, formed a collaborative relationship to provide mentors for predominately African American boys. This was a case study using quantitative and qualitative measurements of the boys' grades, attendance, absenteeism and behavior. The author researched the role that faith played in the mentors' lives. The Faith Maturity Index was used to determine the maturity level of the mentors. The mentors and boys were interviewed to determine how the Christian men had made a positive difference in the boys' lives. The project consisted of the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of the course and of a yoked mentoring program. This mentoring model of supervised ministry incorporates increased instruction of both supervisors and students, encouraging guidance within the relationship that gives direction with freedom. In comparison to previous models the guidance and instruction provided in mentoring prove helpful to participant satisfaction.
