A study of their own guidelines for ecumenical cooperation will examine ways in which they can express a lived, visible unity.  Areas of convergence and divergence will be noted.  A case study of a Lutheran/Catholic ecumenical parish will provide a possible model that could be followed. One was filmed at the church and recorded the past and present and looks to the future. One of the chief values of history is entertainment.  It is fascinating to learn about the people of the past.  We enjoy listening, seeing and reading about what happened in the past.  It is my hope that people who read this thesis will be captivated by the story of the lives of the early circuit riders.  History can also be the source of inspiration.  As we learn more about those who created the heritage of which we are heirs, we may be inspired to give thanks for their lives, and we may pledge to follow their example.  We know that history's real importance is that it helps us understand who we are.  It is a clue to our own identity.  By reflecting on the past, we can better understand who we are and determine who the future direction of our ministry. This thesis will be a resource in teaching students in confirmation classes and to groups in the church who need to know about their rich United Methodist Heritage. I will also determine if clergy morale and the burn-out rate are directly related to whether or not one has a committed and disciplined spiritual life. The project compiles information collected from an anonymous survey distributed among local church clergy in the Central Texas Conference. The practicum/project was begun in January, 2005, after the survey had been created the previous November. Surveys were collected over a six week period and then the information was tallied over the next three months. Those completing the requested information were told verbally or in writing that it was an anonymous survey and they were not to sign it anywhere on the three-page questionnaire. Methodology includes workshop setting, utilizing pre and post surveys, priorities exercises, and dialogue. Five focus groups were administered the priorities exercises to compare with workshop results. It describes the processes that led to the institution of a Sunday school project and the formation of the Achimota School Gospel Outreach Club.  Members of the club serve their peers as teachers in Sunday school classes.  It also seeks to establish the theological, psychological and biblical rationale for involving teenagers in teaching the Gospel in Achimota School, Accra, Ghana.  It then investigates possible ways to provide the missing link of significant Christian adult supervisors for teenage peer-teachers.
