As a result, the church is faced with spiritual stagnation that keeps it from growing.  The church has tried in vain to employ various programs to get over this.  Based on the pastoral analysis that the dullness of the class meeting is attributed to the lack of spirit and performance of the class leaders, this paper explores the ten components of servant leadership as a way of restoring the roles of the class leader and activating the function of the class meeting. The method used by the author was a study of Scripture, historical materials, recent scientific research, secular theory, Christian theology and professional applications. The information was synthesized and used to develop projects in his congregation. These were tested through survey and anecdotal reflection. Modifications were made each year for each group.  There was a concern that the experience be more than a course on the history, polity, doctrine, or theology of Methodism.  Instead of offering a class on information about Christ and Christianity, a process of Christian formation was sought.  Mutual accountability of the covenant group was combined with instruction on the acts of compassion, justice, worship, and devotion, in the atmosphere of faith sharing-telling the stories of our faith. Participants wrote a group covenant, met for 18 weeks for sharing, prayer, and instruction, and used the Sunday Lectionary for daily prayer, meditation, and preparation for Christian living. The results of this project revealed that the teachers have a strong sense of vocation and commitment as teachers.  However, they lack self-confidence as teachers due to their inadequate training and preparation.
