In midlife a man's inner life begins to prompt some different questions and concerns, and a journey that has been largely outward can become inward, which can enable the growth and development of one's spiritual life.  The project as a whole has four parts.  The first is an analysis of the issues confronting men currently.  The second section contains summaries of the seven key books in the field. The historical and descriptive survey methods of research were used to determine the developmental changes of midlife and the prevalent needs of adults experiencing those changes.  Six couples participated in an eight-week training program at First Baptist Church, Clarksville, Tennessee.  At the conclusion of the training, the results were tested by statistical standards and other methods. Included is the study of thirty-one women from a suburban Roman Catholic church, the subsequent presentation of findings on a matrix, and four case studies of women who showed a predominance in one of the phases of individuation, i.e., symbiosis, practicing, individuation, or distancing. Undergirding the conceptual framework of the study are developmental psychological findings primarily of Erikson, Levinson, Gould, Sheehy, Howe, and Sherrill. Its importance lies primarily in the fact that it can be utilized by the pastor while counseling in the local church. This is the first attempt in a doctoral thesis to apply dream sequences of healthy females to the developmental tasks of the life structure for use by pastors in counseling.  It is my belief that the intentional awareness of the use of dreams can provide an approach to the care of parishioners which enriches all elements of the counseling process. The report progresses through seven stages: the theory of dream interpretation; the developmental stages in personality development; the development in the life structure of males; a parallel segment of development in the life structure of females in the age 30 transition; the application of dream reports to the developmental structure of females; the methodology; and the theoretical application for the use of dream reports in the context of pastoral
