Statistical studies revealed that the suicide rate, for the past five years, has been 2.8 times the state average.  A program module was designed to raise the level of awareness, of the danger signs of suicide, in those serving in positions of leadership in the Indiana National Guard.  The research includes a study of the context of ministry, psycho-social and biblical-theological aspects of suicide. A life situational approach to preaching and teaching was developed for naval deployment, in light of the twentieth century American life situational preaching of Harry Emerson Fosdick and Edgar N Jackson, and Lewis Sherrill's theology and practice of Christian education.  A religious program resource (the study guide) was developed and was used successfully by naval shipboard chaplains.
