However, rarely do they achieve a balanced blend of all three relationships in mission. The thesis of this paper is that a western evangelical mission society could remain centrally committed to pioneer missions (mission-to-world), while also nurturing healthy mission-with-church and mission-with-mission relationships. The author hypothesizes that in order to achieve this, the mission society must have a clear identity as a nurturer of pioneer 'apostolic bands' (mission teams), a flexible ecclesiological framework centered in foundational New Testament teaching, and an experience of missional interdependence with the new churches and their mission-sending groups based on the 'apostolic bond' (the relationship between the gospel messenger and those who receive Christ through that person or group). The author concludes that, though it is possible, it is difficult."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["31b95ee0-a31c-43dc-8ec9-d97b30239a2d"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791131765161590784,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:52:41.734Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T09:59:37Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:32:23Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"371479a9-3f42-4083-9212-ce83f7dc4db3","accessControl_ssim":["65428421-ffaa-42a5-af01-c47bb7c87587"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Parallel aspects of spiritual renewal in the ministries of Albert Simpson and Bill Bright"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T09:59:36Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T23:43:49Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["41f6c590-34d1-4911-a1f4-f739e3170db7"],"hasLease_ssim":["45f3b3cf-e7de-4d24-95f7-2d3d4ccc6397"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Richard F Lovelace"],"year_tesim":["2004"],"location_tesim":["United States"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Thomas W Donworth"],"keyword_tesim":["Commissions--Biblical teaching"],"publisher_tesim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Simpson, Albert Benjamin, 1844-1919","Bright, Bill, 1921-2003","Evangelicalism","Church renewal--Reformed Church","Missions","Protestant churches"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This thesis attempted to show similar aspects of spiritual renewal in the lives of Albert Simpson and William Rohl Bright. The basic idea for the thesis developed as a result of class discussions on spiritual renewal and models of Christian spirituality. It also grew out of reading dynamics of the spiritual life and renewal as a way of life. Spiritual renewal occurred in the evangelical Protestant church due to their emphasis on outward mission, the fulfillment of the Great Commission, the person and power of the Holy Spirit, and the prevailing power of prayer. Both Simpson and Bright saw the Protestant church in America and the world as impotent and in need of revival and renewal. As they emphasized evangelism and discipleship, they became effective change agents for renewal, as they were able to motivate thousands of willing workers for the task of world evangelization. The parachurch groups they started were not rivals to the existing Protestant church. Both men saw themselves as working with other likeminded evangelical Christians for the restoration and renewal of the church to a place of prominence and power throughout the world. Eventually, many of the individuals evangelized and discipled by the Christian and Missionary Alliance and Campus Crusade for Christ became involved in local churches, evangelical schools, and missionary sending agencies. By the year 2004, these ministries continue in their efforts to evangelize and disciple people throughout the world in their desire help fulfill the Great Commission in obedience to Christ's command."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["31b95ee0-a31c-43dc-8ec9-d97b30239a2d"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791130491615707136,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:32:27.185Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T09:49:33Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T03:14:39Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"99b99873-71a6-4bc7-a074-272415c989b2","accessControl_ssim":["a4593954-6857-4cf6-b8e3-ed4b21b0856f"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Developing a strategic plan for engaging the last unreached people groups in the western South America region"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T09:49:32Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T02:37:55Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["fb0c4042-6b17-4ff0-b971-786cebfa427f"],"hasLease_ssim":["f8a3f87f-4f78-4799-b36d-0f73a92797eb"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Joel B Sherrer"],"year_tesim":["2004"],"location_tesim":["Latin America"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Larry Nelson Gay"],"publisher_tesim":["New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Missions"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The purpose of the project was to develop a strategic plan for the initial engagement of the last unreached people groups in the five western South American countries of Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Ecuador, and Peru. Of particular concern were the areas of church planting formal training, experience, strategy, and competencies."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Trinity Evangelical Divinity School"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["c654e922-76d0-4427-ac29-e286b7997781"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799718588071804928,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:36:34.203Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T09:34:34Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:36:33Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"6a7e60c3-0850-41ed-a1a3-0dca33938ad1","accessControl_ssim":["aa805e66-d730-4993-8283-c4fcb0fffae1"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Chinese cross-cultural missionary care for women from Taiwan"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T09:34:33Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T01:15:12Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["1b852474-f171-44a7-82b5-a15f0a89217e"],"hasLease_ssim":["b1a2088b-cd99-4b6d-b47c-5ead5f6506e8"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Logos Evangelical Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Silas Chan"],"year_tesim":["2004"],"location_tesim":["Taiwan"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Chin Yun Lo"],"publisher_tesim":["Logos Evangelical Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Women in Christianity","Cross-cultural counseling","Missions"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This study focuses on Chinese cross-cultural missionary care for 25 women from Taiwan, utilizing a questionnaire survey covering physical, emotional, social, spiritual aspects and difficulties in mission fields. Care provided is for missionaries themselves, mission organizations, and supporting churches. The goal is to lead missionaries to become better prepared for mission fields and in home assignment, and to provide holistic care in personal development and career proficiency. Results indicate that the greatest difficulty is the cross-cultural social aspect, then the emotional aspect. Married missionaries are more emotionally stable.
