The method of research demonstrates how the TSPM as a mass organization under the united front is wooing over Western evangelicals. The author then shows the response of Western evangelicals and gives a true account of the Chinese church situation. He led a team of ten Scottish ministers to evaluate the performance of twenty-two Southern Baptists who served in their country.  The team developed a twenty-two page instrument which was used in sessions with churches interested in missionary involvement. The sessions led the churches either to ask for or to refrain from seeking Southern Baptist help. Observable and statistical data demonstrated that the use of the instrument aided churches in informed, high-quality decision-making. The sample is 89 Jesuit priests who complete a demographic data sheet, Maslach Burnout Inventory, and a Sources of Stress in Ministry Questionnaire.  Forty-three are from the rural group (experimental) and 46 are from the urban group (control).  The study tests three major research hypotheses by using the two tailed t-test for independent samples.  It finds that rural Jesuits are more emotionally exhausted and experience a greater sense of depersonalization than urban Jesuits.  There is little difference between the groups on personal accomplishment, physical symptoms, and days of illness. Rural Jesuits score higher on the critical items cluster of the Sources of Stress Indicator. It has been said that the Japanese church membership has not grown as fast as the church memberships of other countries in the Far Eastern Division.  Why is the SDA mission so difficult in the country?  In order to answer this question the writer surveyed, analyzed and interpreted the work of the church.  He examined the pre-war and post-war political, geographic, economic, social and religious conditions of the country.  The post-war church history was divided into four ten-year periods: restoration and advance (1945-1955); dependence on missionaries (1956-1965); transition from missionaries to national workers (1966-1975); and independence from missionaries (1976-1985).
