Worship is one aspect of congregational life where the values of Western secular culture are deeply embedded; changing the expectations surrounding worship may be pivotal for the deeper transformation of congregational culture from an inward, institution-maintaining focus to an outward, missional orientation. This project is a case study of one congregation where such transformation is already underway. Five hypotheses guided this study: people from the mother church leave to plant the new church; church planters have a relationship with the mother church before starting a new church; daughter churches are planted locally in relation to the mother church; daughter churches are financially supported by the mother church for a period of time; and the people from the daughter church fully support the church planter. The hypotheses were supported by the literature and case study. As a result of these case studies, seven principles surfaced. The first principle is finding the 'right' person. Without the 'right' person, the rest of the principles do not matter. Principle number two is assessment, which verifies that he, is indeed the 'right' person for the job. Principle number three is the five percent rule: every new church that is planted will give five percent of its offerings to an escrow account for a minimum of three years. This is where the money comes from to plant new churches. Principle number four is partnering for the purpose of sharing resources. Principle number five is that a church plant becomes a fully functional church on its launch day, which allows the bookkeeping systems of the church to include paying the salary of the church planter from day one. Principle number six is raising support, which takes the pressure off the church planter to raise his full salary. Principle seven is networking, which makes partnering easier and contributes to the nonfinancial support of the planters. It is hoped that these principles will work to make a difference in the way churches are started and that they will be tested in different places by other networks of churches that desire to create movements of church planting churches."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Dallas Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["8322f611-a593-413a-8bcd-0011fba52dc7"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791130058766680064,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:25:34.389Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T13:08:31Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T02:26:11Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"83782824-a5ee-451c-8684-167dd72c6efe","accessControl_ssim":["36bf7f66-5966-4a4e-827c-3fc4993aac2f"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["An outreach strategy for Calvary Bapist Church to reach the unchurched in Stephenville, Texas"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T13:08:30Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T02:00:51Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["3cf4da21-9863-4231-9142-2492b11f751e"],"hasLease_ssim":["595f36bc-c4e9-43da-8c31-1ac13c3bb376"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Bill Day"],"year_tesim":["2009"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Steve P Hogard"],"publisher_tesim":["New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Strategy","Calvary Baptist Church (Stephenville, Tex)","Missions","Evangelistic work--Study and teaching"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The purpose of this project was to develop an outreach strategy for Calvary Baptist Church to reach the unchurched in Stephenville, Texas. The idea of a 'self-theologizing' church is biblically grounded, yet it is still an unfamiliar practice for evangelicals. This project involved restructuring an undergraduate mission theology course to familiarize students with the need for theological contextualization, to give the experience in facilitating a 'hermeneutical community,' and to guide them in devising a personal theology of mission. Written and oral surveys, participant observation, and analysis of student work indicated partial achievement of course goals."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Trinity Evangelical Divinity School"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["c654e922-76d0-4427-ac29-e286b7997781"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799719308841975808,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:48:01.583Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T13:03:53Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:25:53Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"d7f9cd0c-7727-4da3-b559-4618c7c12a6b","accessControl_ssim":["15680426-b5f9-44d5-9b66-cf39576894e0"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Factors that motivate or de-motivate national church planters to persevere in their mission to plant churches in Moldova"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T13:03:52Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T04:18:19Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["7ea8aaa5-c743-43c1-ade7-c30784116301"],"hasLease_ssim":["103b191b-9799-4d30-b8f6-439c85ffb601"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Columbia Biblical Seminary and School of Missions"],"advisor_tesim":["Don Howell"],"year_tesim":["2009"],"location_tesim":["Moldova"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Timothy G Osborne"],"publisher_tesim":["Columbia Biblical Seminary and School of Missions"],"subject_tesim":["Missions","Church development, New"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The purpose of this dissertation was to discover the influences that motivate, or de-motivate, national church planters to persevere in their mission to plant churches in Moldova. Research followed a mixed-method approach. Interviews with nationals were followed by the development of a survey instrument. Thirty-three church planters trained by Crossover Communications International were studied. The research studied motivation and de-motivation from six perspectives: spiritual, economic, political/religious, relational, ministry activities, and training. The study found that Moldovan church planters were motivated most by spiritual vibrancy and close relationships. They were de-motivated most by opposition, fatigue, and being alone."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791130082389000192,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:25:56.917Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T13:01:50Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T02:01:12Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"365235c5-4825-4dea-a500-0bad35e14335","accessControl_ssim":["0c20bdcf-e441-421d-b565-e88ccdad9886"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Strategies to lead small-membership churches to become mission-oriented congregations"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T13:01:50Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T23:42:19Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["a1e15257-2793-4b9b-8c0f-ab253faeaa87"],"hasLease_ssim":["3d78eaeb-afda-4aa1-8a3a-0f48f1301aca"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Lewis A Parks"],"year_tesim":["2009"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min.
