Twenty-one questions guided discussions. Pre and post assessments were administered. Prochaska and DiClemente's definitive research on motivation and Stages of Change provided tools to measure progress. Objectives were to increase motivation to make more healthy food choices, increase awareness of relationship between Christian faith and the problems of overweight and obesity. Motivation to lose weight increased. Participants reported greater awareness of the connections between food habits and faith. He surveyed the Corps of Army Chaplains using both printed and web-based forms, exploring motivational factors and attitudes impacting on the notion of vocation or call to ministry.  The results revealed a significant consistency in motivations and attitudes concerning service as chaplains and ministers. This training conference causes significant, positive changes in knowledge and attitudes among individual participants, but it does not, within six months after the training, bring about any concrete plans and activities for planting and renewal of churches. Because the project is not able to continue monitoring and encouraging concrete activities of participants, gains made by the conference are not consolidated. In response, the project proposes that a recovery of 'transcendence,' as defined in Carl Gustav Jung's theory of the unconscious, is the antidote to such a collapse. Using a sermon series built upon a motivational gift model taken from Romans 12:6-8, the project exposed participants to the dynamics, characteristics, and possible service opportunities of each gift.  Instruments used to evaluate the effectiveness of the project include an evaluation form for each session, a pretest and a posttest, and a motivational gift inventory.
