The author has studied the moving procedures used by the Lake Region, Northeastern, and Allegheny East conferences.  Included in the study is the impact that moving has on the pastors, their families, and the congregations.  Following a series of interviews, case studies and discussions with a moving review process team, the conclusion was, the conferences of focus needed to develop a formal moving process, rather than informal procedures. By clarifying and following what is promising in the marital commitment and in the new community, marital partners may develop personal contacts, integrate the move into their personal and marital goals and decrease marital stress.  The author implements Juergen Moltmann's theology of hope into a ten week program of workshops and field trips for seven couples who have moved recently.
