It is written from the perspective that this integration was seen by Murray as consistent with the divine pattern, and that it is the key to understanding the essence of the man and his ministry. The work begins with a brief biographical sketch of Murray's life and career, followed by a survey of the biblical-theological foundation on which his commitment to keeping the two truths of revival and missions together was built. The project then explores Murray's understanding of the church's unhealthy condition, along with his description of what was necessary for her to be restored to health. Eleven principles in Murray's story can serve and guide twentieth-century Christians. The geography, history, and ethnic makeup of South Africa, where Murray served, is reviewed.  His early life, education in Scotland and Holland, and return to South Africa are highlighted. Murray's four pastorates with the Dutch Reformed Church provide examples of his missionary fervor, particularly his establishment in Wellington of the Missionary Training Institute and Huguenot College.
