It questions whether a new humanity occurs when one is united with Christ and if so, the character of that new life. This concern grew out of the pastoral and personal experience of the author who sought to understand the church's claim of a new order of human existence when one is in Christ stated in Paul's assertion that 'if any one is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has passed away, behold, the new has come' (2 Cor 5:17). This 'new creation' manifesting itself in a 'new humanity' is the controlling motif of the thesis. The biblical foundations of this concept are examined in the writings of Paul. Critical and systematic explication is based on the existential categories of Paul Tillich; the eschatological dimensions of hope in Juergen Moltmann; and in the theologies of liberation. Psychologically, Carl Jung's concept of 'individuation' and Abraham Maslow's 'self-actualization' are considered. Being 'in Christ' creates a transformed humanity. The new existence dictates the character of the 'new humanity' now characterized by a new sense of the possible, freedom and responsibility."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799719763300057088,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:55:14.988Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T21:13:29Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:27:14Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"da754084-ea2d-4653-8363-e829631fa430","accessControl_ssim":["c27cf12d-87f8-486c-9417-54531323252a"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Administration as charism: a comparison of I Corinthians and canon law"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T21:13:28Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T04:22:42Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["c1ee3c66-f8ed-464d-8bd0-f40c1790252e"],"hasLease_ssim":["d2ab513c-e57d-4366-84ad-c4c1a18f7d93"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["University of Chicago"],"year_tesim":["1981"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Glen Adrian Lewandowski"],"keyword_tesim":["Codex Juris Canonici (1917)"],"publisher_tesim":["University of Chicago Divinity School"],"subject_tesim":["Bible. The changed nature of social life does not allow a one-dimensional correlation between the first century and the modern world. Methodologically, general hermeneutical theory allows for a mutual critical correlation between classical text (I Cor 12-14) and reigning paradigm (Code of canon law; esp. canons 145, 146, and 196). A practical theology of administration results that is neither biblicistic nor technologically rationalized to the point of impersonalism and bureaucratic efficiency. Experimentations in administering Communidades de Base and the proposed revision of the 1917 code of canon law provide paradigms for future praxis in direction setting."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791130167351967744,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:27:17.944Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T21:03:47Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T03:01:12Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"9b90e88e-c549-4a45-a57f-007e9e0262e2","accessControl_ssim":["69b9ee29-9c95-4d1a-855b-d4bf8b362b54"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["From disciples to apostles: helping Shelton Congregational Church revitalize its faith, define its purpose and empower its members through a process of re-visioning itself as the Body of Christ"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T21:03:46Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T02:40:53Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["b5799f62-d087-495b-9068-ce7fdb876b13"],"hasLease_ssim":["3fcc7319-3cdb-4a3e-bdba-1426493e0102"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Hartford Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Carl S Dudley"],"year_tesim":["1999"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Gregory W Schmidt"],"publisher_tesim":["Hartford Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Church renewal--Congregational churches","Shelton Congregational Church (Shelton, Conn)","Mystical body of Jesus Christ"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This project proposes to help a church try to rediscover itself after more than a quarter of a century of conflict and simply going about the motions of being a church.
