A learning team combining members form both sides of this divide becomes a pilot group for broader cross-cultural relational development in the congregation. That is the setting of this project.  Based on interiviews, photographs, and case studies with Knox Presbyterian Church's attempts at practicing hospitality with its neighborhood, this project demonstrates the 'proslambano' in Romans 14-15: that welcoming the strangers of the neighborhood, and the church inviting themselves into the homes of their neighbors as servants, liberates both to experience God's reconciling love. The model uses a threefold, concurrent methodology that envisions acting into new ways of thinking by transforming 1) preaching into innovative dialogue, 2) entrepreneurship into collaboration, and 3) ministry-for-the-neighborhood into ministry-with-the-neighborhood. Test findings suggest that traditional congregations can be significantly transformed by relational, small group dynamics. It explores the thesis that failure to adapt is due to fear of displacement and the resulting sense of loss of power, control, leadership and prestige.  Through a study of relevant literature, a developed theology of change and the results of congregational surveys, the project discovers that failure to adapt is not due to fear of displacement, but to fear of the loss of church and neighborhood.  A Consultant Manual is presented to help congregations face transitional
