It is important to provide a relevant equipping program to transform the young-old from retiree to an active servant of God, thus to live their life fruitfully and meaningfully and accomplish the task given by God which serves to bless the middle old and old-old generation. This paper focuses on two main areas: the transformation principles through the study of the life of Moses from shepherd of the flock to the leader of the Israelite crowd, and a study of the equipping program of the Golden Army of Heaven (GAOH) and modifications of it to suit the Singapore context. I focus on the relation between spirituality and improvement in the quality of life of the elderly, for that is the way in which the problems of an aging society will best be tackled. To this end, I developed a program titled 'spiritual formation for improving the quality of life for the elderly.' The program ran for eight weeks in the Hyun-Nam Church where I am the senior pastor. The project was conducted with the help of three social workers, and the results were assessed with the help of a questionnaire. These challenges can include financial and health concerns, future living arrangements, final wishes, and discovering the ultimate value of one's own life. Tragically, however, widows, widowers, the never-married and divorcees are often left to contend with such issues alone. Meanwhile they may have adult children who will also be deeply affected by these issues, and are able to help. But that help rarely comes. Instead silence, ignorance, and misunderstanding prevail between the generations regarding the realities that will impact them both. This project is an examination of these issues and the reasons that prevent aging parents and their adult children from discussing them constructively. This project developed a seminar to encourage older women in practical godliness that they could teach in their churhces. The nine participants in Chimbote, Peru, were evaluated three months later to determine content remembered, behavioral impact, and experiences as they taught in their churches. It begins by identifying the problem of preachers being ill-equipped and under-prepared for the task of preaching by their formal theological education.  More specifically, classical theological education addresses preaching to specific target audiences on only a limited basis.  The perspective of this project is that specifically focused preaching enhances the effectiveness of communication.  In addition, little has been written and taught regarding preaching to older adults, as opposed to younger generations.  Preaching must address the reality that the population of the United States is growing older.  This thesis addresses ways to communicate biblical truths to aging adults more effectively.  It surveys contemporary literature which addresses issues relevant to the elderly. The project also includes a self-study for preachers who preach regularly, exploring specific themes for preaching, unique characteristics of older adults, ways in which the Bible addresses particular issues faced by older adults, and ways in which preachers can use more inclusive language in the wording of the sermon. Discussion focuses on the problem of suffering and belief in a God of love.  The status and role of traditional and recent theodices within a pastoral context, liturgical issues, including the doctrine of God and Universalism in funeral rites, and the nature of trauma and its personal implications, are all explored.  Case studies involving tragic bereavement through suicide by drowning with no body to grieve over;  pre-natal bereavement of embryo twins;  and a neo-natal death of a seven day old baby are presented.  Short-term support of funeral services is considered, along with the establishment and development of longer-term support strategies of a Pastoral team, Pastoral library and Pastoral guidelines. The project is theologically grounded on the church as body of Christ and people of God and continuing Christ's ministry as diakonia. The research method included randomized and nonrandomized samples utilizing two control groups and three experimental groups.  Five testing instruments were used.  The project director employed a sermon series from I Corinthians, an intergenerational discipleship course, a young adult course on senior adulthood, and an intergenerational activity council during the implementation of the project.  Each group was observed and tested to determine if intergenerational koinonia had been achieved.
