There were twelve couples in attendance, four already married between 6 months and thirty years and eight unmarried couples. The couples already married enjoyed sharing and caught some of the enthusiasm from the couples preparing for marriage, while the unmarried couples enjoyed the mix as well. The author believes that the marriage rite best expresses the theology of marriage in the Orthodox Church, and makes a very good 'text book' for marriage preparation. During the retreat, we began with an introduction offering an Orthodox vision of marriage, followed by a line by line study of the rite. Communication skills were also taught, using the theology expressed in the rite. The couples agreed that the marriage rite offered a good context for marriage preparation."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Pittsburgh Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["31bd5819-b5a3-4928-96d5-b581f38b637b"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799720704793378816,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T03:10:12.866Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T04:10:30Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T02:29:12Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"2c44ca40-fc71-4cc2-ba2e-79e32100ab40","accessControl_ssim":["537cd86f-97a2-409f-b459-1563a7bd281d"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Crossing the boundary between seminary and parish: a Greek Orthodox perspective"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T04:10:29Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T23:25:26Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["be49c436-3034-4b2c-9859-b7419c72b27d"],"hasLease_ssim":["329fdeff-e417-4e0a-a61e-442cbcc204d7"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Boston University"],"advisor_tesim":["Carrie Doehring"],"year_tesim":["1994"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Nicholas Krommydas"],"publisher_tesim":["Boston University School of Theology"],"subject_tesim":["Orthodox Eastern Church","Clergy"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This project researches the transitional experiences of Greek Orthodox priests between seminary and parish. It provides a deeper understanding of the need to forgive and to be forgiven in order to attain holistic healing and well-being."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Andover Newton Theological School"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["63ab0f5c-c5fb-460c-b8ba-dd2fd91f7145"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791133559486939136,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:21:12.936Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T23:31:07Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:29:59Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"dcae73c0-b971-40d9-adb9-98e42242e224","accessControl_ssim":["e5216779-3ca6-4233-a1f0-1d6373c287d4"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The psychology of confession and the Greek Orthodox Church"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T23:31:06Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T04:26:47Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["a78e7ecd-333f-4421-bc94-a14892a5fbdb"],"hasLease_ssim":["04e7d6e1-0228-4d12-84b1-9559b6108d78"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Andover Newton Theological School"],"advisor_tesim":["Henry C Brooks"],"year_tesim":["1987"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Nicholas V Gamvas"],"publisher_tesim":["Andover Newton Theological School"],"subject_tesim":["Orthodox Eastern Church","Confession--Orthodox Eastern Church","Psychology"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This project explores the psychology of confession within the context of the traditions and practices of the Greek Orthodox Church. The study addresses the practice and psychology of confession. It examines the therapeutic properties in conjunction and correspondence to the Greek Orthodox Church and to the entire Christian family. It uses library research as its primary methodology. However, other research is drawn from the author's personal and practical experience as a Greek Orthodox priest, from church services and rubrics and from oral tradition. Taking a traditionalist path of research, the author presents witness from the Bible, Councils, and fathers of the undivided Church for ecumenism as a movement integral to the church's covenant in the world. The goal of the project was to design a discussion forum that would: 1) deal with issues of the pastoral life of Greek Orthodox clergy and 2) serve as a model of a collaborative style of ministry. Most newly ordained Orthodox clergy are assigned to parishes as sole pastor immediately upon ordination. The project addresses this fact by suggesting that parish ministry is enhanced by the collaboration of pastors with other professionals. The project then sought to involve members of the community-at-large by naming and dealing with topics/issues of pastoral life, thereby modeling an approach to pastoral problem solving which would free the priest to confer with professionals in the community and make lateral referrals to other professionals."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Andover Newton Theological School"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["63ab0f5c-c5fb-460c-b8ba-dd2fd91f7145"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791133182536450048,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:15:13.448Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":21,"label":"Unknown"},{"value":"D.Min.
