The project director began by researching the field of discipling children and producing a comparative analysis to determine the best practices. He then produced a report of six best practices for discipling children in the home. Next, the project director developed curriculum to train parents how to use the best practices discovered and use the curriculum to teach a selected group of parents at the church with the best practices. Through the process, the project director increased his knowledge of discipleship practices in the home and in equipping families to lead their children spiritually. He also increased his knowledge and skill curriculum writing and classroom instruction. A popular myth holds that the marriages of most couples raising a special needs child end in divorce. However, numerous studies show this is not always the case; in fact, in many instances, raising a special needs child makes a couple’s marriages stronger. This study focused on researching and identifying key factors contributing to marital satisfaction among couples raising a special needs child. Previously, there has been little research done on this topic, a fact which inspired the researcher to look into this phenomenon. The discovery of these major factors will be helpful to couples raising special needs children, pastors, and marriage counselors.To gather the necessary data for this study, three different methods were used. First, descriptive surveys were administered to discover qualified couples who fulfilled the established criteria. Second, the quantitative research method was employed through surveys that were used to identify key factors contributing to the marital satisfaction of the volunteering couples. Third, the qualitative research method was used through personal interviews with the selected couples to identify the major factors that contributed to their satisfaction in their marriages.The results of this research support the association between marital satisfaction among Korean American couples raising a special needs child and communication, spirituality, and commitment. This is a clear warning that the enemy is working to deceive and cause people in the church to fall away. What if the church could better equip the laity to address the areas often used for the deceptive purposes talked about in this verse? This dissertation addresses the issue of people walking away from the church, particularly people who have grown up in the church and walked away after high school. I argue that in order to keep these individuals from walking away from their faith, they need to be equipped to better understand and rationally defend that faith through apologetic training. While other projects have had a similar goal and targeted teens, this project is targeted at parents with a goal of equipping them with the tools necessary to teach core apologetic concepts to their early elementary age students. This dissertation seeks to lay a foundation on which to build an apologetic and instill a Christocentric world view into students at the earliest possible age. In the project, the reader will be given biblical, theological, historical, and ecclesiological examples of what a healthy family ministry can look like. This project is meant to encourage and equip future and current ministers, especially those with few resources, as they seek to develop a healthy family ministry culture in their contexts. Churches can see healthy family ministry established in their midst regardless of the number of resources at their disposal. Throughout the project, the reader is given biblical instruction regarding the primacy of parental discipleship in relation to the biblical instruction of children. This primacy is made even more specific when the project addresses the role of the husband and father in the home-discipleship process. The project then looks to Hebrews 3 \u0026 10 to address the need for all ages of the church to meet regularly. Once the biblical and theological groundwork has been laid, the project then moves into a section in which the history of modern youth ministry is examined in contrast with the historical precedent of family worship. Matthew","Bible--Psychology"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Media ministry publishes gospel content on paper, on the air, and online, but few robust feedback systems are in place to measure the spiritual impact of gospel broadcasts. This study articulated a theoretical foundation of a biblical theology and review of pastoral practices on children and parenting, published a resource on biblical parenting for distribution through the Internet, and then asked the audience for feedback.The resource was rooted in a study of how the Bible regards both children and the task of parenting. The study also explored models of faith formation, pastoral parenting best practices, and a review of the religious landscape of contemporary youth. A 93-page electronic booklet (PDF) called “A Handbook of Biblical Parenting” was developed and shared with over a thousand people online, who were then invited via email to complete an online questionnaire.The response rate was less than 2%, yet the audience was demographically in line with the expected audience. Most respondents were actively parenting young children, expressed an improvement in their parenting confidence, and found the resource practical, using its ideas several times. Most considered faith important to their parenting and found the resource to be encouraging, biblical, and educational. Most consumed the PDF deeply, even though most used a handheld mobile device. A repeated use of this prototype process would require a greater response rate to be consistently useful. Formatting for a small screen would be wise. The questions would require adaptation for other topics. Dealing with the sensitive topic regarding a pastor and his children through the method of expository preaching allows one to depend upon the authority of God’s Word while drawing attention to the necessity of upholding this neglected pastoral qualification.After addressing the biblical and theological foundations for this topic (chapter 2) and reviewing its related literature (chapter 3), the importance of text-driven preaching is discussed by focusing on the biblical authority, examples throughout history, and benefits of this approach to preaching (chapter 4).Chapter 5 reveals the exegesis of the passages pertinent to this topic from 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9. Chapter 6 provides six principles one should implement when constructing text-driven sermons and how the application of these principles formed three sermons from the relevant texts for this project. Chapter 7 details the conclusions drawn after preaching these respective sermons to a test group of ministers. Deuteronomy","Christian life","Church work with immigrants"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The examination of academic resources, personal experiences with Korean American churches, and interviews from Korean immigrant parents and their children indicate that parents today, including Korean American parents, need family discipleship. A significant number of the next generation are leaving the church and their faith every year. Many Korean parents do not understand why their children drift away from the church and faith. They do not know the biblical responsibility of parents to disciple children in the home. While they never practice family discipleship, they still believe that their children will be exceptions and will not leave the church and their faith. Many immigrant Korean Americans came to America to pursue their American Dream. Secular life goals lead parents and children to busy lifestyles. The parents and children suffer from linguistic, cultural, and generational barriers at home as these three significant obstacles become greater and bigger every day. These barriers make Korean immigrant parents believe it is impossible to teach children the Word of God at home.   This project motivated and equipped Korean immigrant parents to disciple their children at home by involving those parents in six weeks of Bible study materials on family discipleship and biblical parenting. This study also motivated and equipped the parents to break down linguistic, cultural, and generational walls between parents and children so parents could build heart connections with their children. This qualitative study explored how “sandwich generation” pastors navigate the simultaneous demands of ministry and caregiving. Data from semi-structured interviews with seven pastors was analyzed using the constant comparative method. The research examined challenges, benefits, and coping strategies of “sandwiched” pastors. This study concluded that “sandwiched” clergy experience the most significant challenges in the personal arena, while also experiencing significant benefits in the arenas of personal life, marriage, and vocation. The short answer? There are many factors that contribute, but our family background is one of the largest contributions. Just as Proverbs 22:6 is true: “Train up a child in the way he should go, even when he is old, he will not depart from it,” the opposite would be true as well: Do not train up a child, and they will depart from “it”. What is “it”? “It” equals habits of godliness, wisdom, truth, fear of the Lord, and sanctification that comes from the training received from godly parents which extends to the next generation. Our mission to train up a child would be in jeopardy of the mandate that Solomon sets forth, if we did not train up a parent in the way they should go.Training is at the heart of this research project. Because there are many individuals who are about to be parents that do not pursue biblical parenting education training before they become parents, a conscious effort to strive to bridge our past with the present and create a bright future for our children, our family, and the generations that follow is integral to the success of parenting. If the concern for strong biblical parenting education is important, believers should be as adamant in pursuing this preparation as much as they are in beginning a biblical marriage with the right steps. Biblical marriages usually begin by the couple taking the time to pursue every avenue of preparation and advice that there is available. But that does not seem to be the case for the role of parenting. There appears to be a large deficit of understanding in the value of pursuing every avenue of preparation and advice available for this vital beginning of parenting. For some reason, the need is not there. It is quite puzzling and disheartening to know that this deficit exists when there is deep importance to this job.The research examined uses a hermeneutical phenomenological approach in the form of personal and group interviews, conversations with student parents of my elementary and secondary classes, and a university essay question from my university students. It was the goal of this project to create a plan of action that can be implemented to begin the journey of parenting with our aim fully on the target moving from working through one’s family background, to the success and the health of our marriage, to the implementation of a strong family unit.
