This exploratory study utilized qualitative and quantitative measures to examine perceptions and evaluations of faith formation curriculum. Identical pre- and post-study surveys using the Lijert scale were distributed to accurately trace parental perceptions regarding explicit growth during the use of the new curriculum. The findings show that missional faith formation curriculum achieved greater effectiveness when juxtaposed tot he traditional approach of teaching Bible stories and have been unable to practice disciple-making. This project examines the biblical and historical roots of disciple-making and presents a method of equipping parents to disciple their children. This type of face-to-face disciple-making restores the highly relational nature of Christian discipleship. Through a workshop and ongoing contact with their pastor, parents were mentored in parent-child disciple-making and spent twenty weeks developing a disciple-making relationship with their teenage children. This thesis project addressed this unexpected claim by acknowledging parents as ecclesial leaders of the domestic church and by equipping parents with the practical tools to preach in the home. A preaching method was created based on Mary Catherine Hilkert's work, Naming Grace: Preaching and the Sacramental Imagination. Qualitative research concluded that parents were empowered to preach in the home through this method.
