Christology in Mark and Paul, theological reflections of Jürgen Moltmann, and historical understanding of Lenten observance provide the framework for a Lenten worship program and devotional guide and a focus study group. The Firstborn of all creation suffers today in the devastation of the planet.  To preach on the Passion a preacher requires a perspective transformation.  A perspective transformation is a form of adult learning in which people come to realize the limitations of their culturally induced and taken-for-granted world view and then take action to change it.  In a series of meetings using a method of qualitative research of a phenomenological nature, the author discovered that it is possible to facilitate a perspective transformation from mechanistic to an organicist world view. Employing this sermon form, the preacher re-tells a biblical story through the voice of a central character or contemporary observer. This essay investigates the kinds of biblical material that may be suitably presented as a narrative first person sermon, suggests some guidelines for choosing story and character, and details the process of composition and delivery.
