Differences between marriage and covenant and the covenant of God with Abram, Jonathan with David, God with humanity in the Christ event, and the covenant of being in the Prodigal Son story provide the theological basis.  A ritual of union and homosexual case study reveal the psychological basis is the family of origin, generational patterning, and systems approach. Statistical studies revealed that the suicide rate, for the past five years, has been 2.8 times the state average.  A program module was designed to raise the level of awareness, of the danger signs of suicide, in those serving in positions of leadership in the Indiana National Guard.  The research includes a study of the context of ministry, psycho-social and biblical-theological aspects of suicide. With basic training, a group of lay caregivers could fulfill the biblical injunction to encourage others, thereby relieving some of the counseling burden pastors now carry .  A group of twelve carefully selected members of Tiffany Fellowship Assembly of God were trained in specific caregiving skills around an 'encouraging' model of counseling. A model for understanding the clergy divorce process emerged with recommendations for pastoral care and counseling.  The data confirms that clergy with children experience fourteen predictable salient events and clergy without children experience twelve salient events in the divorce process.  This modified ethnographic study demonstrates that some of these events are more painful than others. Of interest is the God-image, one of many other object relations created by a child while in relationship with the alcoholic parent.  This image of God persists throughout life unless either events or personal effort causes it to change.  Based upon this image, a person forms characteristics of God that profoundly affect the way she/he relates to God and the environment.  Each subject was asked questions from modified and abbreviated Rizzuto 'Family' and 'God' questionnaires.  After answering questions about each parent, the subjects were asked to mark sixteen word-pairs in accordance with how they related to each one.  Finally, they were asked questions about God and marked sixteen identical word-pairs. The context of this project is the psychology of Carl Jung and the spirituality of John of the Cross.  Their perspectives are utilized in formulating and implementing a psychospiritual model of adult development.  The model challenges our story and guides us on the human journey. The model can be adapted to various areas of ministry. This project highlights the model's usefulness for pastoral counseling.  The qualitative study provided some initial insights that are tentative and inconclusive. Since very few helpful models or institutions are likely to be available, the church, through the local congregation, must be able to offer a viable ministry of reconciliation.  This project focuses first on an analysis of the circumstances which presently are contributing to the pain and separation. Secondly, it attempts to build a practical theology where belief and practice are mutually independent. A questionnaire format was designed to ascertain the projected levels of comfort the respondent would have concerning his/her own and his/her spouse's friendships.  Questions were also asked about perceptions of the spouse's comfort levels.  Four different types of friendship were surveyed to minimize the possibility of bias had the survey only covered cross-gender friendships. Three scales, verified in previous studies, also were used. Kendall's tau-b correlations were used on the data.  The results showed that a majority of respondents were comfortable with all the types of friendship studied. However, there was a clear reduction in comfort for cross-gender friendships and mixed-gender group friendships. Males tended to be less comfortable than females with same-gender and cross-gender friendships, with females reporting less comfort for couple and group friendships.
