The author views the pastoral counseling center from a family systems perspective.  He studies how a center and its staff respond to conflicts. It uses this model for the pastoral assessment of congregational families with regard to life cycle issues.  The author hypothesizes that the model may be useful in identifying families who risk having difficulty with life cycle transitions and situational crises.  He shows how the family wellness program 'Understanding Us,' which is based on the circumplex model, can be a vehicle for such assessment. It used a case study method that observed ten spouses of deceased cancer patients.  The author planned and implemented the pilot project to meet the needs of the spouses.  He conducted five training sessions with three spouses and took each spouse to visit two other bereaved spouses.  The project included the trainees' views about the development of a lay grief counselor network. This paper explores the sociological, psychological and theological reasons for this phenomena.  It then proposes a client-centered Rogerian approach for counseling these teenagers.  This approach appears to lead girls to make healthier choices for themselves.  The thesis is based on the work of one counselor in the county adolescent clinics of Indianapolis, Indiana. This project demonstrates that a wholistic care model of teaching and pastoral counseling positively affects one's retirement maturity index score (an indicator of one's successful retirement ability), as measured by the Johnson-Gray Retirement Profile (JGRAP).  The project uses a pre-test and a post-test methodology to measure the Retirement Maturity Index (RMI) of seventy-four (74) volunteers who proceed through a retirement course.  The course introduces interventions of personal counseling and seminars.  The study finds significant changes in eleven (11) of the fifteen (15) major areas of retirement after these interventions. It examines a theological basis derived from process thought, pastoral psychological dynamics and the nature of crisis.  Types and goals of crisis counseling are analyzed.  The project explicates five processes of crisis counseling in the light of Chinese culture: 1) the establishment of a meaningful therapeutic relationship; 2) experience and awareness; 3) reinforcement of positive thinking and behavior; 4) sincere sharing; and 5) action therapy.
