The author includes a study of attitudes toward persons with disabilities, and two questionnaires.  Some pastoral care theories and practices are reviewed.  Conclusions are affirmative of contributions made by pastors with disabilities.  Those who have 'been there' do create a better sense of rapport with clients or parishioners going through painful life experiences. The purpose of this study was to determine whether Christians who underwent four weeks of christo-cybernetic therapy would self-report significantly less depression than Christians who did not. A review of the literature for father-daughter incest includes a discussion of assessment criteria, as well as a review of recovery themes: self-esteem issues, exposure of the secret, reality shaping, experience of grief, and feelings of guilt and shame.  A review of the literature for forgiveness explores the dynamic formulations of key theologians and a discussion of the themes of: empathetic blessing, acceptance and expression of self, dealing with the past, and restoration of wholeness.  A single case history of pastoral counseling is explored through the use of verbatim accounts and a q-sort instrument which validates the experience of adjustment and forgiveness. Forgiveness is discussed as operating dynamically through memory, experiences of shame connected with empathy, responsible personal stewardship, an awareness of the dynamics of the incestuous family and the therapist's self-awareness. These dynamics operate as fluid themes. Although there is an emphatic picture of the 'net' and 'pits' of sin, there also is a stronger message of salvation (wholeness). The lament psalms are most effective in providing expressions of hopelessness, anger, fear, guilt, and hope within the context of faith.  Their concept of wholeness is substantiated by contemporary scientific research.  The church needs to take its part in this emerging discovery of its own ancient world. The psychological need for friendship in all stages of adulthood is documented.  Societal, sexual and ethical dilemmas about intimate friendships are described. The focus was on long-term counseling, defined as five or more interviews in weekly sessions.  Research included structured interviews with twenty-five parish clergy with specialized training in counseling, the collection and analysis of questionnaires distributed through the above clergy to counselees, and library study of relevant materials.
