Two major research questions motivate this study: Is it appropriate for pastoral staff to use general psychological theories and techniques to conduct counseling? Should the trinitarian perspective be the guiding hand in counseling the victims of a disaster? The author used the Taiwanese earthquake of September 21, 1999 as a research setting and conducted in-depth interviews with pastoral counselors and victims in six disaster areas in Taiwan. The study shows that the most essential spiritual power behind the pastoral counseling of the victims was communion with the Trinity. Such fellowship is also the essential factor in the salvation plan of the Triune God. The project design consisted of interviews with pastors of older adults, a lecture-training series of encouragers to assist older adults with their transition, and feed back from encouragers and older adults about the transition ministry. I hypothesized that participants in the perinatal loss support group would report a reduction in emotional and/or physical symptoms related to their grief.  My research included a review of the literature and interviews with parents who had experienced perinatal loss.  The basis for evaluation of goal achievement was the use of symptom self-reports, observation, and post-project interviews.  As a group, there was an overall reduction of 24% in reported symptom severity between the time of first self-report and the second self-report. Discussion focuses on the problem of suffering and belief in a God of love.  The status and role of traditional and recent theodices within a pastoral context, liturgical issues, including the doctrine of God and Universalism in funeral rites, and the nature of trauma and its personal implications, are all explored.  Case studies involving tragic bereavement through suicide by drowning with no body to grieve over;  pre-natal bereavement of embryo twins;  and a neo-natal death of a seven day old baby are presented.  Short-term support of funeral services is considered, along with the establishment and development of longer-term support strategies of a Pastoral team, Pastoral library and Pastoral guidelines. The power of drama to communicate values, truths, and beliefs has a long history in the secular milieu.  Although the biblical tradition is not a dramatic tradition, its narrative is flexible enough to become a dramatic presentation.  This study traces the role of drama in the Roman Catholic tradition of faith and its use as a viable tool for individuals to experience healing and reconciliation as they tell their story in the context of sacred scripture.  Research has revealed that while many individuals may seek pastoral counseling, such intervention may not always lead them to a place of acceptance in the community of faith. These individuals may take solace in hearing the Word of God and allow that Word to draw them into the compassionate presence of a loving God. Empirical data from pastoral counseling experience, biblical and theological insights, use of active contemplation methods, social and theological issues take on new meaning when one experiences exclusion from 'the rooms' of the Christian community.  The power of a dramatic play can be used to build a bridge between the individual and the Christian community.  The reflections of the participants are revealed in the power of this medium, which brings healing and reconciliation to individuals and communities.  This work recognizes drama as a credible tool to communicate truth, to address issues that are often ignored, and to engage a community in a dynamic way.  Drama has power where words fail.
