Biblical theology will provide the basis for the counseling philosophies to be taught in the project. This project was designed to help Christians be more intentional about cultivating their marital relationships. The purpose of this project in ministry was to build biblical Christian marriages that would withstand the challenges that arise in the marital context. The research question asked was,'If Christians are equipped by their minister for marriage enrichment, will their marriages be strengthened?' The primary research question was, 'What are the major components that contribute to member care with One Mission Society? The study used the quantitative research method. An electronic survey was given to 115 One Mission Society field-based missionaries--78 responses were received and recorded. The survey questions were developed from the precedent research. It was anticipated that the selected churches would have: a professionally trained appointed leader and trained laypersons; a safe environment for hope and healing; a clear pathway for people to find help; and the churches would use both prepackaged and their own written programs/materials. The research method and design was a case study of these three churches using interviews, direct observations and documentation such as websites and print materials. The goal was to gather the best practices from these church ministries and prayerfully seek to directly apply various organizational and functional traits to Wildwood Community Church in Norman and in the surrounding areas. This research sought to discover how the selected churches structure and execute their care and counseling ministries. In addition, this research endeavored to learn new ways of incorporating staff and laypeople as leaders and workers in Wildwood's Care and Counseling Ministry. A survey instrument was administered before teaching a twelve week course, and then re-administered after the course. The data from the pre- and post-tests were compared for change. Data were also compared across various subgroups to ascertain contributing factors of that change. The research explored God's willingness to dialogue, His provision for a wonderful counselor and Adam and Eve's hiding from God. A review of relevant literature relating to resistance revealed gender, social stigma, self-disclosure, problem analysis, and the identity of the help source as factors related to resistance levels. A survey of 221 individuals from one church identified that reasons for resistance were consistent with findings of the literature review. It was based on pastoral visits with five families of the chronically ill and the illness of the author's husband. The hypothesis was that the chronically ill and their families face unique challenges and needs for pastoral care not observed in acute or terminal illness due to the 'ongoingness' of the chronic disease or injury. A Family Systems approach and theological reflection were used to analyze the experiences. The hypothesis was proven correct. Becoming a disciple of Jesus Christ involves transformation and relies on the sufficiency of God's grace to produce change in a person's life. However, traumatic events and the influence of Post-modernism present unique challenges to the discipleship process. This project uses an eight week study to help new Christians who have experienced trauma begin growing in their faith while addressing real life issues resulting from these events.
