Women may not be adequately prepared to assume such leadership positions.  Power and authority are important issues identified by women in pastoral ministry.  Feminist understandings of power and authority are examined from theological, historical and psychological perspectives. Principles of a feminist theory and theology of leadership are applied to case studies of women currently ministering in solo pastor, senior pastor and co-pastor positions. Beginning with an historical overview of similar claims in church history, the project evaluates the biblical bases posited for these claims, raising awareness of the issues and making suggestions for responses to them. After presenting strict definitions of the terms 'power' and 'authority', he devotes most of the analysis of rabbinic power of the Talmudic, medieval, and modern periods from three psychological perspectives: analytical (Jungian), existential, and family systems.
