The foundation of understanding this question is rooted in his calling to lead the covenant community.  The minister is called by God not only to preach but also to serve as a leader of worship.  Many ministers surrender their role as worship leader to others and view their responsibility in worship to be limited to 'bringing the message'.  It is vital that every Presbyterian minister re-examine his role as the primary leader in worship as it is an important part of his calling. The research team developed a survey to assess the presence of eight health characteristics: intentional evangelism, mobilized laity, transforming discipleship, engaging worship, passionate spirituality, empowering leadership, authentic community, and effective structures. The health was then compared to particular indices of growth. A positive relationship between health and growth was discovered. This project discusses some cultural issues underlying those debates and describes an experiment in seeking to revitalize Reformed worship through personal piety among church leaders within a particular congregation. Characteristics of culture and worship at the beginning of the twenty-first century are explored and contrasted with characteristics of Christian worship that intentionally seeks to embody an alternative culture. The research method was a qualitative multisite case study of three Mexican churches using standardized open-ended interviews.  This research found that though leaders were helped to understand and apply worship principles they were not stimulated to think contextually about worship. The project studies the form and movement of lament psalms and offers five theological insights. It traces the development of the Presbyterian rite in the United States and examines its liturgical shape and theology.  It examines the various texts of the rite and assesses the extent to which they provide opportunity of lament.
