After first examining traditional assumptions of authority, the project turns to feminist theologians who offer a different paradigm. The research focuses on six clergywomen serving as pastors/heads of staff in large membership congregations in the Presbyterian Church (USA), and considers how they, as women, embody and exercise authority using a model of partnership rather than the hierarchical model to which the church has been accustomed. I believe preaching can facilitate this formation. yet in order for the people of God to be formed, I believe the preachers must be formed. What impact does the intentional spiritual formation of P.C. (U.S.A.) preachers in northeast Ohio have on their preaching? Specifically, if they are better able to discern God's activity and will, will their preaching be more effective? One such vow is the parental intention that the child become Jesus' disciple, obey His word, and His love. Yet we have historically provided little guidance for the fulfillment of this vow. I designed and conducted a nine-week class to assist these parents. The class presented strategies for teaching children about the Bible, Christian worship, prayer, church traditions, and the Christian life.
