alternative educational model to overcome obstacles to ministerial education faced by candidates in the New River Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church in America. The author reviewed the cultural context of West Virginia and identified three obstacles the model must reduce or eliminate: low educational attainment, poverty, and geographic immobility. The author presented the model to the Candidates and Credentials Committee of the New River Presbytery, which approved the model with some suggested modifications. Exploring this requires an understanding of personal struggles minority pastors encounter due to cultural differences, systemic barriers they encounter because of the pervasive influences of racialization in the American church, and the crucial role of the Caucasian leadership and congregants that impact the ministry of minority pastors in majority culture congregations. This study utilized a qualitative design using semi-structured interviews with six minority pastors in the Presbyterian Church in America. The review of literature and analysis of the six interviews focused on three key areas that provided insights to how minority pastors overcome leadership challenges. The three areas of focus were: minority leadership challenges, organizational culture, and multicultural leadership competencies. This study found that the complexity of racialized patterns in the American church must be addressed in order to effectively overcome personal and systemic leadership challenges and thrive in majority culture congregations. This study examines this dilemma in the practice of pastors in the Westminster Tradition. The pastoral practice has sought to define what it means to partake of the Supper in a worthy manner, and pastors have urged their parishioners to examine themselves for the presence of gospel knowledge, faith, repentance and love, or new obedience. Meanwhile, a minority tradition existed which frowned on self-examination and focused instead on those who had a covenantal right to the Supper as defined by baptism and church membership. The 'fencing' tradition is an endangered species today. Postmodern authors have noted a significant change in Western culture, affecting world view and specifically denying the existence of an over-arching explanation of reality known as metanarrative. This study employed a qualitative research design interviewing twelve Teaching Elders of the PCA. The findings revealed a strong commitment to the Reformed value that scripture alone is sufficient as a source for the content of sermons. This study utilized a qualitative design using semi-structured interviews. The review of literature and analysis of the interviews focused on three key areas that make for maximum impact on the worshiper: intellect, affect, and will. The study concluded that for meaningful worship to happen, the engagement of all three areas is essential, making an impact that continues throughout the week. This study utilized a qualitative design using semi-structured interviews with eight pastors and some spouses. The review of literature examined scripture, Christian and secular literature regarding ministry and marriage. The interviews focused on how church planting impacts the planters, spouses and their marriages. The conclusion of this research found that the understanding and application of the theology of union with Christ had a positive impact on a pastor's relationship with God, his family, and his
