Each culture has its own rituals, customs, and traditions. The author, sharing stories from his ministerial experience, will also lift up some of his successes and failures in embracing and relating to these differences. These stories are shared in order to help other pastors navigate the waters of cross-racial-cross-cultural ministry more smoothly. A framework for more effective communication will be offered in the last chapter. Iowa is one of the conferences with a good representation of clergy from ethnic minority groups. This project critically assesses the effectiveness of the current process of preparing both congregations and pastors for cross-cultural/cross-racial appointments in Iowa. Through conversations with members in which mutual sharing took place and responses to surveys were made, ethnographic studies, review of relevant literature, and subsequent analysis of data that were gathered, what emerged was an education program that deepened that biblical theological understanding of participants as people of God.
