Making use of critical pedagogies and its constitutions and statutes, the author attends to the community's tradition, the lived experience of Redemptorists, and the U.S. cultural milieu. The author formulates a process of formation that reimagines an exclusive focus on the individual, positing one that is community centered and dialogic. He addresses three different formative moments for pastoral response; the novitiate, transition to ministry, and ongoing formation. The project analyzes ecclesial models developed by Avery Dulles, Patrick Granfield, and Joseph Komonchak and applies them to parish models described by Jay Dolan. Work by John Lawyer and Neil Katz introduces creative listening skills for parish interviews.
