Samoans a century ago were given the impression that their cultural values and traditions were somewhat primitive and unfit for the Christian faith. They were told that it was a culture of pagans and heathens, and it did not have a place in the community of faith. Samoan people are proud of their heritage and take pride in their culture, but are somehow confused when they attempt to relate their culture to their faith and other different cultures. The negative impression and attitude from the western culture, as well as their own people, makes their cultural traditions weak and less than perfect in relation to the rest of the world. This adverse attitude is prevalent in some areas of Samoa as well as the Samoan community in the United States, where the influence of western culture is predominant. Truly, when two or more cultures interact, the balance of the scale tends to swing to the values of the stronger and dominant culture. The inferior culture will adopt the values of the predominant culture. This is the situation with the Samoan Christians in Samoa, as well as those who are living in the United States. This issue has been with the Samoan Christians from the time when the first Christian missionaries landed on the shores of the Samoan islands. This situation has not confined its unfortunate impact to Samoan culture alone, but has affected other cultures as well. The author believes that there is no wrongdoing in adopting values from another culture. However, there is a real problem and danger when cultural values and heritage are lost. Then persons are unable to contribute to society and to find meaning as part of a community of faith. Hence, this project attempts to relate some of the Samoan values and traditions that express the concept of relationship in relation to process theology. The hope is that this small project will assist other Samoan writers, as well as those who find the sacredness of cultural relationship to be an expression of their faith and the Divine."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Claremont School of Theology"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["e7e2d3cb-fc51-4ba5-a7fd-d43f3f8c150b"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791131849633824768,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:54:02.293Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T11:16:52Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:06:11Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"9288357d-0e0e-47a9-805a-2cee2c1a4eab","accessControl_ssim":["d115ec2c-8dba-4d73-9169-0dd0595a0638"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Training lifestyle facilitators: developing and implementing a healthy lifestyle program for the members of the Bull Bay Seventh-Day Adventist Church"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T11:16:51Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T02:25:35Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["24b70018-06f5-4270-bd99-4c5d92d4622b"],"hasLease_ssim":["6a0c3501-7fb4-401e-968c-6f7222214693"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Daviceto A Swaby"],"year_tesim":["2007"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Leonard M Steele"],"publisher_tesim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Religion","Medical care","Physical fitness","Health","Bull Bay Seventh-Day Adventist Church (Bull Bay, Jamaica)"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The objective of the project was to develop and implement a healthy lifestyle program for the members of Bull-Bay Seventh-Day Adventist Church, so they can be lifestyle facilitators. The methodology speaks to the observation that Muslim women tend to speak more freely with groups that do not include men. As a result, the dialogue reached levels of exploration that involved faith, perspectives of justice, better understanding, and quests for peace towards loving one another through differences. In conclusion, I envision other Christian communities using this project for interreligious dialogue."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Hartford Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["8e52e4c8-38b6-4846-872d-a744b4f5725d"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791126220765659136,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:24:34.186Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T10:48:41Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:11:42Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"fb35c5e3-bbdd-4514-8f0e-87abf90fbed1","accessControl_ssim":["ffccd6d9-4b56-459a-8e22-c9534357f4c6"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Twenty-first century Christian literature in Egypt"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T10:48:40Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T05:18:31Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["33c5b382-eda2-460a-a94c-7d6dc700939d"],"hasLease_ssim":["cefc35a2-86a0-4ffb-843c-5594352e40a3"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["San Francisco Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Emile Zaki"],"year_tesim":["2007"],"location_tesim":["Egypt"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Venus Nicola Boulos"],"publisher_tesim":["San Francisco Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Religion","Pluralism, Religious","Social classes"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This study aims to develop an Egyptian theology that addresses the new Egyptian class system, and to train Christian writers in creating a local theology that deals with diversity and plurality in a Christian framework and builds up Egyptian society."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["San Francisco Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["38714359-d032-4ed0-ae3f-cb82c8f65a92"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791125415062929408,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:11:45.807Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T10:42:36Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:17:24Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"bd207975-dc3c-473d-bf35-575a15c5cca1","accessControl_ssim":["b14f9841-afe1-4b2f-9d47-b5cca80d1f10"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The African American church \u0026 health care: knowledge as a cure"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T10:42:35Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T03:34:43Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["d637eae9-11e4-4582-8a5a-44854d7ea3f1"],"hasLease_ssim":["919a2b63-3dcb-4557-9d0f-2296745baa3a"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["United Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Kwame Abayomi"],"year_tesim":["2004"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["William Edward Seals"],"publisher_tesim":["United Theological Seminary (Dayton, OH)"],"subject_tesim":["African Americans","Religion","African Americans--Education","Medical care","Health","African American churches"],"language_tesim":["English"],"alternative_title_tesim":["African American church and health care: knowledge as a cure"],"abstract_tesim":["My hypothesis was that the knowledge of health care issues dispensed over a period of time, through structured seminars, would raise the level of awareness of a set group of participants. Online renewal used Sabbath themes to provide web-based content. To facilitate accountability and chaplains' desire for fellowship a 'Sabbath friend' was created. The MBI Human Services Survey instrument determined the success of web-based renewal. Overall, MBI found chaplains decreased their feeling of burnout and increased their feelings of ministry accomplishment. The online Sabbath renewal project was a first step to provide Navy chaplains a viable opportunity to continue their spiritual vitality in arduous duty assignments around the world. The evaluation of the web design was a secondary goal. Using Likert scales, the evaluation measured technical aspects of web-based design such as cognitive load, aesthetics, and navigation. The online renewal site successfully helped chaplains with spiritual renewal/awareness that resulted in greater feelings of accomplishment in ministry. The results of this project also offered hope for the future application of web-based renewal for everyone in the helping profession. In the end, this project accomplished a new method for facilitating the ancient need for spiritual renewal."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["31b95ee0-a31c-43dc-8ec9-d97b30239a2d"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791131727115059200,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:52:05.450Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":215,"label":"Unknown"},{"value":"D.Min.
