The method of research is the result of local and conference-wide teaching opportunities, as well as implementing dance and drama ministries on the Preston-Hurlock charge. The evaluation consists of interviews and surveys of participants and congregations. M. E. Zion Church to connect their story as African-Americans to the biblical story. The methods of research for this dissertation were: the author portraying biblical characters during Sunday morning worship services, the author's engaging in dramatic projects with congregation members, locating and incorporating theological and historical source material, and adapting theatrical concepts learned in undergraduate studies. Recommendations are made for Christians to utilize drama in their cultures of ministry. The author led an adult class in Christian Education in reading and discussing contemporary plays over a period of eight weeks.  Participants were encouraged through drama to engage personal faith and the community of the church.  Characters in the plays and the plot were integral to the discussion. The power of drama to communicate values, truths, and beliefs has a long history in the secular milieu.  Although the biblical tradition is not a dramatic tradition, its narrative is flexible enough to become a dramatic presentation.  This study traces the role of drama in the Roman Catholic tradition of faith and its use as a viable tool for individuals to experience healing and reconciliation as they tell their story in the context of sacred scripture.  Research has revealed that while many individuals may seek pastoral counseling, such intervention may not always lead them to a place of acceptance in the community of faith. These individuals may take solace in hearing the Word of God and allow that Word to draw them into the compassionate presence of a loving God. Empirical data from pastoral counseling experience, biblical and theological insights, use of active contemplation methods, social and theological issues take on new meaning when one experiences exclusion from 'the rooms' of the Christian community.  The power of a dramatic play can be used to build a bridge between the individual and the Christian community.  The reflections of the participants are revealed in the power of this medium, which brings healing and reconciliation to individuals and communities.  This work recognizes drama as a credible tool to communicate truth, to address issues that are often ignored, and to engage a community in a dynamic way.  Drama has power where words fail. The project involved translating the Hebrew text into more easily understood conversational English dialogue.  To retain the audience's attention, the play also involves the use of the latest, most up-to-date video capability and computerized visual effects. The hypothesis was D plus S would be greater than S (D=drama and S=sermon).  The results of the study (which included well-defined control and experimental groups, and 1,397 individual surveys) lent confirmation to the positive effect of drama as an effective teaching aid. Therefore, Korean churches have become strongly biased against traditional religions and various theatrical traditions.  Korean Christianity, although very Western in its liturgy and appearances, is obviously quite shamanistic in its belief and behavior.  In the Korean traditional theater, shinmyong is a special artistic experience characterizing the popular aesthetic consciousness of the Korean people.  Shinmyong gives rise to the birth of the people's enthusiastic and participating worship, whether on an individual or a group level.  The shinmyong is comparable to the Western Christian liturgical experience. Shinmyong is an embodiment and incarnation of the Spirit innate in each and every person. The church of Korea should acknowledge these theatrical phenomena as unique resources for the Christian liturgical theology.
