Through action research and narrative inquiry, critical events in the workplace journeys of individuals are heard, recorded, and evaluated in test groups. Results show that as the storytellers gained new insight through recalling and reflecting on workplace episodes, test groups found their stories effective in stimulating meaningful dialog on work. From this project, a narrative pathway paradigm has emerged to identify, record and disseminate workplace testimonies as a small group curriculum. A qualitative methodology using observation, narratives, face-to-face interviews, and a survey was employed. The findings suggest systemic and organizational issues concerning policies and procedures which include a neglect and lack of positive rewards, reduced staffing and high turnover rates, differing approaches to care planning, constant policy changes, lost leadership, and staff refusal to float. This project recommends creating a sacred space which provides opportunity for the creation of harmony."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Bethel Seminary (St. Paul, MN)"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["fccbc3d7-874c-42e3-8a20-621b107c56c7"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791132835309944832,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:09:42.307Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T14:58:56Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:13:34Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"ff5b2373-ccf2-43a9-803d-58a71098af61","accessControl_ssim":["55c7816f-8519-4bbe-83be-fa25183f2e65"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Doing good work: using Deming's system of profound knowledge (SoPK) to explore how cognitive dissonance and self-justification influence our work"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T14:58:55Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T05:25:54Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["f2c8049d-6dbd-48dd-8cc8-05abe903a935"],"hasLease_ssim":["057f82fa-5adb-4797-b96f-85cfa68049bb"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Haddon W Robinson"],"year_tesim":["2009"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Paul Aganski"],"publisher_tesim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["System theory","Rationalization (Psychology)","Religion in the workplace","Cognitive dissonance","Spiritual healing","Work--Religious aspects--Christianity","Capitalism--Religious aspects--Christianity"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Cognitive dissonance and self-justification in the secular, pluralistic marketplace influence every worker's work.
