As a result of the research, a greater understanding of the soteriological issues and the various biblical interpretations was gained. The data was then compiled into a format that is easy to understand and engage. Modern teaching resources which have proven to be effective in training students were employed in developing the new curriculum. Evaluation of the soteriological content, curriculum effectiveness, and the overall growth of the project director were fundamental to the completion of this project."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["5e492469-490e-44a3-90c1-17560a603bc2"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799716973328728064,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:10:54.264Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T11:08:27Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T02:58:54Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"52f75ca0-18a4-44f3-b13f-668775a87933","accessControl_ssim":["06c409a0-7fe7-4ced-b667-ceef2d514a50"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["How does God save? a four-week course examining the soteriological spectrum at Saint Andrew Presbyterian Church"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T11:08:25Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T00:33:39Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["ab015e90-b1b8-4168-8e48-e17b133b58cc"],"hasLease_ssim":["b1199d56-77cd-4f53-850d-fb23c3047864"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Hartford Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Heidi Hadsell"],"year_tesim":["2006"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Mark E Porizky"],"publisher_tesim":["Hartford Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Universalism","Religious pluralism","Salvation","Saint Andrew Presbyterian Church (Conn)"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["How is salvation understood in a small Presbyterian church in the southeast corner of Connecticut? There is, however, confusion in the church today about the meaning of salvation. One traditional approach to understanding salvation, substitutionary atonement, has been questioned by many contemporary theologians. In this project an eight-week class on understanding salvation today will be designed and taught. The project focuses on the work of five modern Reformed theologians: Gustav Aulen, John Stott, Karl Barth, Jürgen Moltmann, Friedrich Schleiermacher, and Paul Fiddes. The approach to understanding salvation taken by each is described and consideration is given to the contribution each can make to a contemporary understanding of salvation. Scripture passages and a background essay for each of the eight lessons are given. This essay sets the parameters of a Christian understanding of salvation within the framework of the church's message and liturgy. The message of salvation begins with a word about death and ends in a word about life. This message is dramatically demonstrated in the sacraments of baptism and communion; baptism as initiatory and communion as culmination. The result of a fuller understanding of salvation is solid grounding for the church's renewal. A rich soteriology both focuses the church on God's specific saving actions, and offers a clear invitation of inclusion into God's saving reign."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799716432660922368,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:02:18.643Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T00:07:40Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:25:21Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"cacca21c-93ee-4f88-acf3-a9ec082b7842","accessControl_ssim":["4fc31872-ca46-4c7f-9114-433098caa471"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The kingdom of God and Walter Rauschenbusch: a synthesis of personal salvation and social transformation"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T00:07:39Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T03:57:42Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["be5a1d4c-54e4-4b85-8e7a-edf2e85d8809"],"hasLease_ssim":["49d5a064-4b29-4a48-ae0c-ba611ac6b928"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Clarence Curtis Goen"],"year_tesim":["1989"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. The author's congregation is the setting for a case study in which a Christian community's encounter with non-Christian religious perspectives prompts commonly recognized paradigms of response (exclusivism, inclusivism, and pluralism) to other religious faiths as ways of salvation. The study proposes that persons will evidence preference for the attitude of religious pluralism.
