Jesus' focus upon God enabled him to do God's will. Jesus separated himself from culture and people at times to be with God in nature, pursuing God at the deepest level. Seminary spiritual formation training at the deepest level can be most beneficial to spiritual leaders, churches, ministries, and culture. This project included thorough research of scripture, literature, and survey method on spiritual formation and spiritual direction. The author considers the question: Is the Western understanding of spiritual formation appropriate to the majority world? Three cultural differences are compared: individualism/communalism, time/events and literate/sensate learning styles. The student was then to present the strategy to the administration of the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary (NOBTS).  The project was to develop a strategy that would increase the likelihood that graduates of NOBTS would become financial supporters of the institution.  Among the hundreds of thousands of titles that have been published that related to fund-raising in higher education, little material was available that was specific to this area of research.  This area of research was concentrated on how other institutions of higher education were developing currently enrolled students so they will eventually become financial supporters of the institution.  A group of development directors at select schools were interviewed by the project director. Each director was asked the same series of questions that related to how they raised money.  Each was asked specifically about how they were attempting to instill a sense of responsibility for the institution in their currently enrolled student body. Interviews were conducted with students, patients and training supervisors.  Two final interviews explored the impact of such a study on the training process. The methodology entailed creating a dialogue between the seminarians' experiences in the seminary community, the Christian tradition, and a cultural resource, self psychology, to propose a concrete pastoral action. The purpose of the project was to explore the practicum to determine its significance for the spiritual formation of seminarians, and to learn something about developing leadership for such a practicum.  The plan was to design a practicum in such a way as to allow the participants to discover God in their lives; to be in touch with and express their own spirituality.
