The project examines the development of the unique postmodern perspective on spirituality and how the preacher can speak to postmodern hearts and minds using the textual approaches of Midrash, Lectio Divina, and deconstruction. It culminates in the delivery of a workshop and accompanying workbook for preachers who are interested in using the Revised Common Lectionary to preach to postmoderns, particularly in the setting of the non-traditional church. The project director utilized the ministry skill enhancement model to design this project. The author researched the current understandings and models of collaboration for the purpose of developing a model of collaborative sermon preparation. Based on this research the author developed a multilevel approach to collaboration that included both face-to-face and online collaboration. The effectiveness of that model of sermon collaboration was studied by an AB study of six sermons developed by two teams. Pentecostal preachers need to look at each of these components in order to prepare an effective expository sermon. The author employed a phenomenological method of research to discuss the caring interactions between the preacher and the bereaved. It examined the human phenomenon of grief and loss and emphasized the intentionality of the funeral sermon and pastoral care to deal with the phenomenon of the death of a loved one. Persuasive preaching's goal is to convince the listener to align his or her attitude and action with the message of the sermon. This study seeks to discover a paradigm for this. The praxis director chose twelve individuals to participate in surveys and interviews. The director preached a series of four sermons focused on one general theme. After the sermon series, the director conducted a ministry program directly connected to the theme of the sermon series. The first chapter lays the foundation for Visio Divina by surveying the history and seminal literature of Lectio Divina and the use of sacred art within the tradition of the Church. The second chapter sees the prayer practices of Lectio Divina and Visio Divina being integrated into a methodology for preaching preparation. The third chapter demonstrates, through five preaching cases, how the incorporation of Visio Divina can become part of the preaching preparation process that includes not only the preacher but parish Partners-in-Preaching groups. The study used a narrative questionnaire of nearly one hundred Reformed pastors throughout the United States and semi-structured interviews with four additional pastors preaching from within a Reformed theological understanding.  The study revealed a heavy reliance on writing in both the preparation and delivery of sermons.  It found that both pastors and congregants deeply care about sermon delivery.  Multiple approaches to this practice were uncovered, influenced by the preacher's habit, personality, theological beliefs, and training.  A high percentage of pastors lacked training in sermon delivery.
