Innovations that may increase effectiveness may be planned and implemented when small task groups are empowered to lead these processes.  Nine church leaders concentrated on assimilation of prospective members.  At the end of one year, evaluation revealed that 49.3 percent of first-time visitors to the church had assimilated to the point that they identified the church as their church of attendance or belonging. The project concentrated on training leaders through a training workshop.  The project began with research in appropriate literature and formation of a leadership team.  Fourteen participants in the workshop demonstrated marked improvement in their knowledge and skill in leading small groups.
