The paper analyzes Korea’s relationship with American empire; the LA “Riots”; and stories of the author’s grandmother and father, who survived Japanese occupation, the Korean War, and the dictatorships of post-war South Korea. It argues that social justice work is equally inspired by the Holy Spirit as private spiritual piety.
