The Christ-hymn of Philippians 2 is the scriptural model upon which the experiment was originally conceived. A small group of interested persons was assembled for the project. Using interviews, journals, and other tools which were utilized to measure the resources (money, possessions, but also time, health, values, etc.) of the project participants, steps were determined which might aid others who are interested in fashioning a simpler way of living. Since the biblical record provides diverse perspectives on multiculturalism, scripture must be excavated for a vision of multiculturalism as a faithful response to God. Although there is no one way to develop a multicultural church, and since the struggle for a diverse identity is constitutive of a new identity, the congregation needs some formal programmatic steps whereby it embarks on the building
