This study also looks at the resulting effects that these changes have had on the community of faith at the First Baptist Church of Everett. In the first chapter a brief history is given for the development of the First Baptist Church of Everett and the community of Everett, Massachusetts. As this history documents, profound ethnic transmigration patterns emerge where the children of the long-time residents of Everett move to suburban locales while at the same time differing ethnic groups begin to take up residence in Everett in greater numbers. In chapter two the theological paradigms of Place, Peace and Prayer are discovered rooted in the analysis of the book of Nehemiah. These theological paradigms are then operationalized in the context of the First Baptist Church of Everett interacting with the community now in Everett. Chapter three is a literature review of the precedent literature that looks at the issues of cross-cultural ministry, church growth analysis, sociological research and leadership development. Chapter four analyzes the church systems that previously had operated in the First Baptist Church of Everett. The present system in place at the church is also analyzed with the addition of the challenges facing the congregation as they grapple with the change brought about by the demographic shifting of the community. Additionally, key leverage points are identified in the church system that are utilized to counterbalance the issues of leadership and philosophical disconnect between the church and the community. Chapter five details the implementation process of the two key variables to the church system and the resulting outcomes of these interventions for the recontextualization of the church."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["31b95ee0-a31c-43dc-8ec9-d97b30239a2d"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791132235593678848,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:00:10.373Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T08:54:40Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:28:47Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"258eb9b5-cb40-4f4b-a8a1-33c88931340f","accessControl_ssim":["187de8a5-553e-4dd2-bb2c-dee7506ed6da"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Self determination: ministering to West Indians in the land of social change and cross cultural conflict"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T08:54:39Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T23:14:07Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["e99b6f5b-7276-4512-9212-cd9a2ac888dd"],"hasLease_ssim":["02e7318e-918c-4058-83ef-df6f686e2e10"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Raymond F Pendleton"],"year_tesim":["2002"],"location_tesim":["West Indies"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Victor A Price"],"publisher_tesim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Social change"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["To be most effective, the church must seek to understand the West Indian people from their cultural origins and aid in their adaptation to the cultural context. The changes include movement away from an agriculturally based rural community, changes in local businesses, and shifts in land use. The impact includes shifts in church programs and demographics. The communities that once sustained a sense of belonging have withered or have become merely places to live. This project looks at Scotland's evolving post-modern society and the fragmentation that has accompanied it. The paper seeks to suggest ways in which New Charges can offer communities of faith that can become places where people may find companionship, purpose and faith. It draws from biblical accounts of community and the early church and using missional church models explores how the church can express itself to an age and a people anxious to discover community."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["b5eba5c2-141b-4673-9689-2f9720736859"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791127795324157952,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:49:35.801Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T06:59:20Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T02:45:49Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"8602d97b-3748-40f1-bc80-26f0e9006341","accessControl_ssim":["3ae230ca-3c69-43ec-bbe7-119f36432844"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Developing a strategy for reaching the unchurched in the transitional setting of the Sage Avenue Baptist Church, Mobile, Alabama"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T06:59:19Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T02:04:54Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["5ee4fb95-f81f-4c87-86e4-029e29a0ae13"],"hasLease_ssim":["e067373d-2420-405c-8449-bbec84b24ae1"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Robert L Hamblin"],"year_tesim":["1998"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["George F Anderson"],"keyword_tesim":["Religious surveys"],"publisher_tesim":["New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Social change","Planning","Evangelistic work","Church","Sage Avenue Baptist Church (Mobile, Ala)"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This project proposes and designs a strategy to evangelize unchurched people in the transitional community surrounding Sage Avenue Baptist Church (Mobile, Ala) through enlisting and training volunteers to conduct a survey of felt needs among community residents.
