The researcher observed and considered problems of the research theme. The question proposed by this project is 'How can I bring about a healthier family systems theory in the church?' The key concept of this study is 'church as an emotional system.' For this purpose, I studied about creating leaders' roles and finding leaders' identities in and for better leadership. The church leaders may react when they are caught in a maelstrom of conflict within a parish. Church leaders can use system to address common problems that they encounter in the parish."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["5a6e4a36-5801-4bff-8e61-86d7489efb4a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799715041921990656,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T01:40:12.331Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T12:39:10Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:33:00Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"133729b0-b623-459e-96a6-77a7f53fde94","accessControl_ssim":["bc2f7ecf-2c45-4fda-82dc-df19ad322927"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Motivating staff to mission: an analysis of church staff team leadership"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T12:39:09Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T22:40:55Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["b39ee4ae-ad63-4080-a23d-664c9920f1d8"],"hasLease_ssim":["641d8eea-7836-4d00-9490-ae91c0c81f23"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Covenant Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Bob Burns"],"year_tesim":["2009"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Owen L Tarantino"],"publisher_tesim":["Covenant Theological Seminary (St. Louis, MO)"],"subject_tesim":["Leadership--Religious aspects--Christianity","Clergy--Religious life","Trust","Presbyterian Church--Clergy","Church management","Social groups"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The purpose of this study was to discover how pastors lead their paid staff toward mission. The study used semi-structured interviews with four pastors in the Presbyterian Church in America and two from the Evangelical Presbyterian Church. The review of literature examined scripture, Christian literature and secular literature regarding how leaders lead staff teams. The analysis focused on three areas: how to build trust, what understanding of relational systems are helpful in leading a team, and how personal spiritual growth affects team leadership. The study found that trust is established as the leader practices consistency of character, motivating the team toward a clear vision, developing good communication, mutual accountability, and building an atmosphere of authentic joy. Church staff teams were often strengthened and trust built through difficult situations. The study also found that it is vital for effective leaders to understand relational systems. Finally, the study concluded that spiritual health and vitality are essential for lead pastors to be effective. Effective leaders have consistent and vital times in Bible study and prayer. The leaders interviewed practiced spiritual disciplines on a regular basis."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Covenant Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["e57e5218-1d34-47f5-b1a5-b84efbc9e61f"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791130529596178432,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:33:03.407Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T12:39:09Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:47:57Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"caf866a7-d4bc-4bb2-8d2d-349687e3fbc2","accessControl_ssim":["b53df965-845d-4c46-ae54-ab41016b8568"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Pursuing church revitalization that is tailored to a church's unique personality"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T12:39:08Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T03:58:11Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["5342a7b0-12cd-498a-8fe5-67c7e168aacc"],"hasLease_ssim":["2dbab3e1-a829-43fc-b5e0-a5dcbf0c777d"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Covenant Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Philip D Douglass"],"year_tesim":["2009"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Walton R Kendall"],"publisher_tesim":["Covenant Theological Seminary (St. Louis, MO)"],"subject_tesim":["Leadership--Religious aspects--Christianity","Organizational change","Congregations","Christianity and culture","Presbyterian Church","Church renewal--Reformed Church","Social groups"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The purpose of this study was to explore how a church's unique personality provides strategic insight for leading church revitalizaiton. The study involved semi-structured interviews with pastors and church leaders from four Presbyterian Church in America churches in the eastern United States. The study revealed that diverse strategies of revitalization reflect the unique mix of gifts and resources that each church possesses, both in its leaders and laypeople. Effective renewal plans are not borrowed from models provided by other churches, but are carefully crafted to fit each unique congregation. The study also revealed the importance of communicating a clear rationale and vision for change but also discerning what kind of change the congregation would most readily embrace. Leaders must possess a unitifed commitment to pursue necessary change but also adapt leadership initiatives and style to fit the congregation. Finally, the study revealed that churches more effectively pursue change when they are aware of their church culture and the opportunities and limitations it represents. The recognition of the dynamics of personality can reveal the most effective pathways to ministry fruitfulness as well as provide insight into pathways that should be avoided."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Covenant Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["e57e5218-1d34-47f5-b1a5-b84efbc9e61f"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791131470837841920,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:48:01.044Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T12:38:06Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:32:42Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"0f24e93b-eea0-4a51-b5d7-ceac12e58f12","accessControl_ssim":["ffda79a2-1c7f-4a7d-9bb2-2bd3febcb2db"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Diverse clergy in mutually supportive friendships"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T12:38:05Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T22:33:04Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["4a8138f8-b516-4aa0-ba14-2d50898ecf8b"],"hasLease_ssim":["541127af-2c3a-4b4f-afdd-b9ddea3f1f97"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Covenant Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Bob Burns"],"year_tesim":["2009"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Stuart L Kerns"],"publisher_tesim":["Covenant Theological Seminary (St. Louis, MO)"],"subject_tesim":["Clergy--Religious life","Clergy--Psychology","Friendship","Clergy--Social role","Social groups"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The author examined the factors that contribute to supportive friendships among diverse clergy.
