The character of a congregation is determined by its spirituality and social justice relevance.  The hypothesis is if members of a congregation understand the mandates of the gospel, they will develop a social justice consciousness.  The research methodology is a pre-test questionnaire that quantifies their understanding.  Participants will attend a four-week program focusing on the liberation message as a critical component of social activism. It is based on principles of practical theology, using experiences of workers with Servants to Asia's Urban Poor, partnering with squatters in metro-Manila, Philippines.  These experiences are brought into critical correlation with the Christian tradition and the context of the urban poor.
